Wolseley Road House
An original, single-level red brick 1900’s home has been upgraded and extended to provide owners
accommodation and modern living comforts . A previous addition behind the original home was removed, the
original home upgraded for living areas and bedrooms were added at rear and into the roof. A double garage replaced a single garage on the side street front. The extension draws cues from the original. New bay and dormer windows are of same dimensions as existing but with a modern expression. Painted face-brick and slate roof visually unify the old and new. A Scandi-inspired interior palette of whites and neutrals serves as a blank canvas for interior styling.
The finished home is a worthy example of upgrading and sensitively extending older homes for modern living. The revival has significantly enhanced its long-standing position within the and the dwelling makes a positive contribution to its immediate built environment.
Sustainability
Bulk of the home’s power needs are covered by a 17kW photovoltaic system with 2 storage batteries. East and North facing openings maximise natural light and assist with cross ventilation. A 10,000L rainwater tank collects water for garden irrigation. Bricks from demolished house were recycled and reused in new addition.
