Judges & Judging

The judging of the Mosman Design Awards is undertaken by the panel of judges. Their decision is independent of Council.

The judging panel consists of three respected architects:

Gabrielle Morrish

Gabrielle is the Managing Director of GMU a leading urban design and architecture practice in Sydney. Gabrielle is a registered architect here and in the UK and has held many senior positions in Government and private practice. She has delivered many of the leading design quality codes and documents used in NSW today including the Residential Flat Design Code and Seniors Living Design Guidelines. She is also an Urban Design expert in the Land and Environment Court and is on a number of Design Review Panels and IAPs including Penrith Council, Ryde Council, Liverpool Council and Manly Council. She has been the chair and juror in many design excellence competitions as well as a juror of many design awards including the UDIA, Property Council and AILA awards. She is the winner of the UDIA Women in Development Leadership award 2010.


Nick Tobias

As founder and principal of Tobias Partners, Nick Tobias has close to 20 years experience designing and delivering architectural projects ranging from bespoke residential commissions to high-end hospitality, retail, commercial and community projects. The firm is also known for its sensitive approach to adaptive re-use and working on sites with sensitive heritage fabrics. While most of the practice’s output is located in Sydney, projects have been completed in other Australian cities and New Zealand, Asia and the USA.

Tobias Partners has won numerous awards from esteemed organisations such as the Australian Institute of Architects and the Design Institute of Australia. The firm’s projects have appeared in design publications worldwide.

Shortlisting

Depending on the number of entries received the judges will determine the need to short-list the properties. These short listed properties will be inspected on site by the judges in early 2019.
