A major house refurbishment designed by busy lower North Shore architectural practice Lara Calder Architect Pty Ltd has recently been completed with spectacular results.
This Mosman house has mesmerising views over Balmoral Beach and Middle Harbour and was purchased by the current owners as a newly constructed speculative development on the steep north facing site.
Over time, the original house showed inadequacies in the construction and accommodation. The challenge for LCA was for an additional level for a master suite and also a complete refurbishment of the existing upper level living spaces. The existing house was largely rebuilt to be transformed from a faux Spanish villa to a sleek high quality contemporary new home.
The main living level honours the site’s true centrepiece, the panoramic views over Middle Harbour. Frameless glass doors and near invisible thresholds blur the distinction between indoors and outdoors and expand on the generous dimensions of the terrace and the living spaces, which are engulfed by the view.
