147 Awaba Street

This new residence has been crafted to respond to our clients’ brief of creating a house that is private from the outside but open from the inside and modulated to respond to the scale of the two adjoining neighbours and with respect to the views from the public corridor.

Through innovative design we where able to set the building in from the side boundaries in excess of the minimum standard set by Council so that we could open up side views of the valley and water glimpses from the streetscape that previously weren’t there.

The rear neighbours on Awaba St are at a significant height advantage looking down on the site so the treatment of our roofs have been tailored to accommodate a pebbled garden.

Side roofs are to be planted out and the courtyard and ensuite walls are framed with horizontal timber screening.
