146 Cowles Road
This modest late Federation era two storey home, exhibiting typical examples of the period style in terms of massing, materials and detailing, is located on a compact elevated site at 146 Cowles Road, Mosman.
However, the integrity of the original building fabric was undermined by copious ill-conceived modifications including poorly planned rear and first floor additions.
This recent project required the complete refurbishment of the original fabric to rejuvenate and restore the classic charm, character and quality of the home to its former glory.
A new first floor addition for the master bedroom suite has resulted in a raised gabled roof to the rear, which integrates with and perfectly compliments the design of the original structure.
At the ground floor level internal space was reconfigured to separate bedroom areas from open plan living areas.
Neutral tones and natural materials have been employed to create a spacious light-filled contemporary home, which supports family life and encourages a dynamic relationship between the indoor and outdoor living areas.
